We Are Back, People!

declaration-of-independence

This is where it all started and this is where it is now – The Commonwealth of Massachusetts! I am a proud citizen of the United States. But I also happen to be the resident of the Bay State, which started from yesterday I have been proud of. And not the state per se. It’s people who I’m proud of. Decent people who suddenly demonstrated they have a say even in such overwhelmingly liberal enclave like our state. It’s unbelievable!

Don’t take me wrong. Scott Brown is a great guy. He is a an independent Republican: Republican National Committee has been been ignoring him through the entire campaign as nobody in Washington seriously considered a Republican in Massachusetts worth an investment. Yet he won by a substantial margin. But the matter of the major importance for me is that we have proven to be able to do something we were “not supposed” to do. The Massachusetts population is overwhelmingly democratic and was supposed to stick to this tag for good. And until yesterday who had decided what we were supposed to do? Here in Bay State it’s certainly liberals. But there are other places where “moderate republicans” make the very same supposition. Do we support them simply for being Republicans? The hell we don’t! In order to deserve our support they have to remember that WE send them to their sits – not their political buddies. “Moderate” is not good enough. You cannot be partially pregnant. GOP is by definition the party of conservative principles. If it starts giving in on them then how are they better than liberals.

This is what makes us the Tea Party supporters (or members – depending on how you define the term). Tea Party started here, in Massachusetts more than two centuries ago. And now it’s here again. It helped organizing contributions from people all over the country in Brown campaign. You can hear the words Tea Party everywhere today. And it’s not really a “party”. It’s people who believe they have a say even in the liberal garbage of Massachusetts politics. Now, don’t relax yet. What happened yesterday in Massachusetts is good. It really is. But there’s a lot more to be done. The win of Republican senator in Bay State first time since 1972 is a big symbol, but it stays a symbols until the Congress starts accommodating to what has happened. And that would be the first step on the long way of recognizing that we are not a small marginal group of cowboys driving Jips which can do nothing but carry guns and going to churches or synagogues, but rather a sweeping grass-root movement of honest intelligent patriots. Not organized yet. But this is a matter of time. Not a long one. If they realize they better take us seriously that will be a good start. If they go in denial, well – too bad for them.
